Our Golden Story

Tradition and Change

It had long been a dream of my grandfather to keep bees so with his determination and dreams of success he began to build his own hives. (much to my grandmother’s relief.) It wasn’t long before his plans started to pay off. His first batch was enough to share with his family. His second batch was even more successful, and he decided to share it with others for free. Now, his third batch was more bountiful than the second and he realised that he could actually start to make a living by selling his wonderful honey.

How it began

I am proud to say that I was born into a typical Romanian family. Fortunately for me, my family had some land which we used to grow crops and look after the livestock. Life in Romania wasn’t easy, you had to become self sufficient. My grandfather started beekeeping before I was born and apparently this made my grandmother pretty angry as he was keeping them in the garden of their house!

New Beginning

After a while my father chose to move to London and opened a store with my mother and me. My parents worked hard with their normal day to day jobs but were no longer involved in the production of honey. They were disheartened after being told that London was no place to keep bees. But my father like his father didn’t give up that easily and after getting a job with access to a workshop, he decided to build two hives. To our surprise the first farm we asked were willing to take the hives and place them on their land. And that’s how it all began.

F.A.Q.

We extract the honey ourselves from our 120 hives in Essex and Kent.

We mainly offer Raw Honey but we also offer some infused with types of natural ginger and lime that has many health benefits.

Store honey in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Crystallization is natural; gently warm the honey to return it to a liquid state.

Yes, all honey starts to crystallise after a period of time depending on the nectar, however if you place it in a water bath below 45 degrees it will turn back runny!
